Sustainability and classic modern architecture inform a home for an interior designer.
The work of Richard Neutra, Cliff May, and William Wurster inspired architect Brett Farrow’s design for a newly constructed, nearly 2,000-square-foot home that he says exists as “a unique response to context and climate.” As such, the design concept incorporates glass doors that expand rooms to the outside and a landscape that complements the architecture.
Resident Kim Nadel, principal at Niche and a LEED-accredited designer, customized the finishes and built-ins, and designed much of the furniture. These elements work in concert with the exposed-beam ceilings, blackened concrete floors, and red-cedar siding that Farrow says are the basis for the home’s identity, which he calls “simple and honest.”

Brett Farrow Architect, Inc.
www.brettfarrowardchitect.com
Brett Farrow is a licensed architect who designs, builds and develops his own projects ranging from commercial/mixed-use to high-end custom residential.
The project types and designs may vary but the emphasis is always on a site specific response. Always modern in the approach to design solutions but keenly interested in the vernacular of building in Coastal Southern California's Mediterranean climate.
In addition to real estate development he is also a faculty member at Woodbury University where he teaches a studio in the Masters of Architecture Real Estate Development program.
